E.C. Courtney

Edward C. Courtney is professor of classics emeritus at the University of Virginia. He studied at Trinity College, Dublin, and at Oxford. Courtney was professor of Latin at King's College, London, and was the Shirley R. and Leonard W. Ely, Jr. Professor of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University before becoming the Basil L. Gildersleeve Professor of Classics at the University of Virginia. Courtney is the coauthor with Niall Rudd of Juvenal: Satires I, III, X (Bristol Classical Press, second edition, 1982; reprinted by Bristol Classical Press and Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1990).
