G.D. Kilpatrick

G. M. Kirkwood (1916-2007) was a professor in the classics department at Cornell University and a president of the American Philological Association. His articles on Greek theater and lyric have been published widely in professional journals. Kirkwood is the author of several books, including A Short Guide to Classical Mythology (Rinehart and Winston, 1959; reprinted by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1995), A Study of Sophoclean Drama (Cornell University Press, 1958), Selections from Pindar: An Introduction & Commentary (Scholars Press, 1982), and Early Greek Monody: The History of a Poetic Type (Cornell University Press, 1974).
