J.L. Strachan-Davidson

James Leigh Strachan-Davidson (1843-1916) was an English classical scholar. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford, and was Master of Balliol from 1907 until his death. Strachan-Davidson received honorary degrees from St. Andrews University and from Glasgow University. He authored Appian Civil Wars: Book 1 (Clarendon Press, 1902; reprinted by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1983), Selections from Polybius (Oxford, 1888), Cicero (DeFau, 1894), and Problems of the Roman Criminal Law (Clarendon Press, 1912).
