Larissa Bonfante, PhD

Larissa Bonfante (1931–2019) was professor of classics emerita at New York University. She received a BA in fine arts and classics from Barnard College, an MA in classics from the University of Cincinnati, and a PhD in art history and archaeology from Columbia University. Bonfante was the editor of Etruscan Life and Afterlife: A Handbook of Etruscan Studies (Wayne State University Press, 1986), coeditor with Judith Lynn Sebesta of The World of Roman Costume (University of Wisconsin Press, 2001), editor of The Barbarians of Europe: Realities and Interactions (Cambridge University Press, 2011), and translator of The Plays of Hrotswitha of Gandersheim (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1986) and of The Plays of Hrotswitha of Gandersheim: Bilingual Edition (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2013).
