Kevin Herbert, PhD

Kevin Herbert is professor emeritus of classics at Washington University in St. Louis. He received a PhD in classical philology from Harvard University. He is a fellow of the American Numismatic Society and is a member of the American Philological Association and the Advisory Editorial Board of the International Journal of the Classical Tradition. He is the author of numerous publications, including The John Max Wulfing Collection in Washington University: Roman Imperial Coins (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1996), Hugh of St. Victor: On the Earnest Money of the Soul (Marquette University Press, 1956), Ancient Art in Bowdoin College (Harvard University Press, 1964), Greek and Latin Inscriptions in the Brooklyn Museum (The Brooklyn Museum, 1972), The John Max Wulfing (Greek) Collection in Washington University (The American Numismatic Society, 1979), Maximum Effort: The B-29's against Japan (Sunflower University Press, 1983), and The John Max Wulfing Collection in Washington University: Roman Republican Coins (The American Numismatic Society, 1987). Herbert has also published many articles and reviews, mostly devoted to Greek and Latin inscriptions, ancient art, Greek and Roman coinage, and the influence of the classics on modern culture.
