Shel Silverstein
Shel Silverstein (1930-1999), the multi-talented poet, author, cartoonist, songwriter, playwright, and musician, was perhaps best known for his beloved children's books-The Giving Tree (HarperCollins, 1964), of course, but many others, including the record-breaking bestsellers Where the Sidewalk Ends (HarperCollins, 1974) and A Light in the Attic (HarperCollins, 1981). His works have appeared in twenty-nine foreign editions. Silverstein's The Giving Tree was translated into Latin by Jennifer Morrish Tunberg and Terence O. Tunberg in The Giving Tree in Latin: Arbor Alma (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2002).
