Gilbert Abbott à Beckett
Gilbert Abbott à Beckett (1811-1856) was a journalist, playwright, and humorist. Beckett was an editor of and contributor to Punch, a British humor magazine. He authored several books, including The Comic History of Rome (Bradbury and Evans, 1852; reprinted by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1996) and The Comic History of England (Bradbury, Agnew, & Co., 1847-1848).
