John Leech
John Leech (1817-1864) was an illustrator and cartoonist whose work appeared in numerous publications. From 1841 until his death, Leech's illustrations appeared in Punch, a British humor magazine. Leech illustrated The Comic History of Rome (Bradbury and Evans, 1852; reprinted by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1996), Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol (Chapman & Hall, 1843), and The Comic History of England (Bradbury, Agnew, & Co., 1847-1848).
