Rafael Kubelik

Rafael Kubelik (1914-1996) was a Czech conductor and composer. He debuted with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 19. Kubelik was music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1950 to 1953, the musical director of the Royal Opera, Convent Garden, in London from 1955 to 1958, and the music director of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1961 to 1979. Kubelik conducted Jan Novak's arrangements of Dido and Mimus Magicus for the recording Vergil's Dido and Mimus Magicus (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1997).
